Comparative and Applied Biomechanics in the LoCB

The Laboratory of Comparative Biomechanics (LoCB) investigates pure and applied questions of mechanical function in animals with a special emphasis on legged locomotion. Our studies span muscle-tendon, joint, limb, and whole-body dynamics.

Our current research follows two main lines of inquiry: (1) an integrative mechanical approach to the diversity of legged locomotion, and (2) mechanical function and dysfunction of synovial joints in animal models.
